Custom output

Retica’s custom output file functionality allows you to adapt Retica to your business software, avoiding the need to manually arrange the extracted data each time.

This feature allows you to create an output file with a customized structure based on your needs. After reading a document and extracting texts, you can generate an output file composed of keys/columns with customized names and sorting, ready to be imported into your business software.

Additionally, you can create a customized output file for each individual model. Once activated, Retica will automatically apply this configuration to all documents uploaded for that model.

Add the extension and activate it

To get started, it is essential to go to the “Extensions” section, press the “Add Extension” button, and then add the “Custom Output File” extension to your active extensions:

Once added, it will be visible among the active extensions.

To begin the configuration, press the “Options” button of the extension and select “About”.

Configure the custom output file

Once inside the section, you can choose which models to customize the output file, both among the standard models and among the custom ones (if present).

Each model has a switch that indicates the status of the service. If disabled, Retica extracts information from documents using a predefined structure. If enabled, Retica uses the structure created in this section.

To customize the output file of a model, you need to press the arrow button next to the desired model.

Once inside the section, you can view the list of all the labels detectable for the selected model. For each of them, you can enable or disable the display using the appropriate switch. By deactivating the switch for a label, it will not be included in the document output file.

Subsequently, you can view the default name of the selected label in the “Standard label name” column. If you want, you can replace it with a custom name by entering it in the “Custom label name” column. If you do not want to change the name of the label, just leave the field in the “Custom label name” column empty.

You can also sort the list of labels according to your preferences to obtain a file with a custom sort order.

To do this, simply press the button with two arrows inside the cell of the desired label and drag it up or down to the desired position.

Once you have found the correct position, release the mouse and the label will be positioned according to your preferences.

Enable custom output file

Once you have created the desired configuration, you need to go to the top of the section and enable the “Enable custom output for this model” switch to activate this feature by default on all documents imported for the selected model.

There is also a feature that allows you to create an output file with all the keys in the list, even if for some labels no text is identified in the document. This is important because the standard Retica output file includes only labels that contain text, excluding those not associated with any text.

To activate this feature, you need to press the “Static output file: Generate a file that contains all the selected keys, even if they are empty due to the absence of a value to associate with them in the processed document.” switch.

Finally, once you have configured the template to your liking and enabled the desired features, you need to go to the bottom of the page and press the “Save” button to make the changes effective.

Warning: if you do not press the “Save” button, all configurations will be lost and will not be activated.
